Description
Okey is a traditional Turkish tile-based board game for 2–4 players. It is similar to Rummikub and played with a set of 106 tiles (numbers 1–13 in four colors, each duplicated, plus 2 special “fake jokers”).
The goal is to form valid sets and runs with your tiles and be the first to finish your hand.
Game Components
106 tiles: Numbers 1–13 in 4 colors (red, blue, yellow, black), 2 of each.
2 fake jokers: Look different and act as dummies.
Racks: Each player has one to hold tiles.
Setup
Determine dealer (random). Dealer shuffles all tiles facedown.
Build wall: Tiles are stacked face down in 21 columns of 5 tiles each.
Select indicator tile: A random tile is drawn and placed face up.
The joker is the next number of the same color as the indicator (e.g., if the indicator is Blue 7 → Blue 8s are jokers).
Fake jokers take the value of the real joker.
Deal tiles: Dealer takes 15 tiles; all others take 14. Remaining tiles form the draw pile.
Gameplay
Players take turns clockwise.
On Your Turn:
Draw one tile: Either from the draw pile or the discard pile.
Discard one tile: Place a tile face up on top of your discard stack.
You must always have 14 tiles (except when finishing with 15).
Valid Combinations
Tiles are arranged into groups:
Runs (sequences): At least 3 consecutive numbers of the same color.
Example: Red 4-5-6.
Sets (same numbers): 3 or 4 of the same number in different colors.
Example: Blue 9, Red 9, Black 9.
Jokers can substitute for any tile.
Winning
A player wins when they can arrange all 14 tiles in valid sets/runs and discard the 15th.
Special hand (called “Çifte”): Winning with pairs only (seven pairs).
Scoring (optional house rules)
The winner scores +1 point, others -1.
If a player wins with “Çifte” (pairs) → score is doubled.
If a player wins by drawing the last tile from the wall → bonus points.
✅ In short: Draw a tile → Arrange into runs/sets → Discard → Try to finish first.
