Description
This app was created by teenagers and toddlers. The culmination of a digital intergenerational project in Scotland; with teenagers steering the design, UX, coding & music, and toddlers providing the artwork and voices for the app.
Designed for two year olds and up, the teenagers used their own experiences to create a playful 'house' with some gentle advice: Don't rush down the stairs, never cut your own hair and freedom to wear whatever clothes and makeup you want.
Sessions for the young people included design with Balsamic, software development with App Inventor, music production and sound recording. Experience and skills gained included: teamwork, digital awareness, software development and confidence in music production.
Do have a play, give it a star rating and feedback to the teenagers who made their first app!
The project was facilitated by Hippotrix, with David Trouton a music specialist. The teenagers were part of West Lothian Youth Action Project and the early years children were from Toronto Nursery. The project was funded by Creative Scotland’s Time To Shine Digital Fund and managed by West Lothian Council’s Community Arts in Scotland.
