Автоматы ZF установлены в различных автомобилях всего модельного ряда BMW, от хэтчбеков 1-й серии до мощных автомобилей серий Alpina и M!

Хотя аппаратные средства остаются неизменными для всех видов исполнения и в основном представлены только 2 типами (6HP19 / 21 и 6HP26 / 28 для 6-ступенчатых, 8HP45 / 50 и 8HP70 / 75 для 8-ступенчатых АКПП), программное обеспечение контроллера позволяет адаптировать коробку передач к каждому автомобилю и имитировать целый ряд стилей вождения. Та же АКПП, плавная и удобная в автомобилях с дизельными двигателями, может быть настроена таким образом, чтобы обеспечить моментальный старт с места, на удивление быстрое переключение и даже перегазовку при переключении на пониженную передачу (т.н. "throttle blip") в гоночном стиле.

Настройка вашей АКПП приведет не только к ускорению автомобиля или увеличению его мощности. От автоматической коробки передач сильно зависит динамика автомобиля, а также общие ощущения от вождения. Блок электронного управления определяет, как чувствует себя ваша машина в разных ситуациях, от движения в пробках или езды по городу до участия в автогонках.
