EXP3 and Traffic Saver Mode
You can now view the EXP3 model 10-day hyperlocal coastal forecast on the map! The model captures local weather effects, giving better forecast accuracy.
As for the Traffic Saver Mode, it’s useful for three things:
- Smooth data downloads when the internet connection is poor
- Optimal use of internet traffic
- Saving money when roaming
Head to the map, activate them in the settings and give them a try!
You can now view the EXP3 model 10-day hyperlocal coastal forecast on the map! The model captures local weather effects, giving better forecast accuracy.

See a 7-day swell energy forecast for your favorite spots on the main page! To switch between wind and swell forecasts just open Settings -> Main screen. Note: If there’s no swell data available for a spot, the wind forecast remains.

Wind alerts have been fixed
Some devices have been experiencing issues with wind alerts. We are sorry that this happened. After a deep dive, the issue was found and fixed. It should be good now!
FYI, wind alerts help you stay informed of good conditions or dangerous ones. It’s a push notification that comes as soon as a wind forecast meets your criteria. Available in the PRO version.

Check out a new parameter on the map— the ocean current forecast! This forecast is available globally for seas and oceans, 10 days out, and with a 9.25 km resolution. It's a great visual aid to help you optimize your sailing routes, plan your fishing trips, and navigate your time on the water in general.

Now the map zooms to the spot you were searching for as it should. We know it was annoying, our apologies.
Also, the phone widget is fixed -- for a little while, you couldn’t add it to your screen. Try it now - it's great for keeping an eye on the wind forecast for your favorite spots.

Welcome ICON-D2 - a regional model with very high spatial resolution - 2.2 km step! It covers Germany, Denmark, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Czech Republic and the Netherlands! It’s updated 8 times a day and gives a 48-hour forecast. Great for adjusting plans for “today” and “tomorrow”!

2 new features to help you stay connected
See forecasts with a low or even no signal in the new version of Windy.app! In this update:
- We've added a Poor Internet mode. It turns on when your connection is bad, and only loads forecasts on the spots and the map.
- We've updated the Offline mode. It pre-loads forecasts for your favorite spots and a selected area on the map. Turn it on in the main menu!
