Grim Quest пытается объединить атмосферу настольной ролевой игры, знакомую механику ползания по подземельям и рогалик, а также классическую пошаговую боевую систему в доступной и интересной упаковке. Благодаря вниманию к письменному повествованию, детальному построению мира и обилию знаний Grim Quest может быть похож на одиночную кампанию Dungeons and Dragons или даже на книгу приключений «Выбери свою собственную».

Grim Quest — это однопользовательская игра, в которую можно играть в автономном режиме.
